Leading experts in prion research will meet in Düsseldorf for their largest conference ever. More than 800 researchers from all corners of the world - Nobel laureates among them - will inform each other on the most current developments in diagnosis, therapeutic and fundamental research. And the general public can learn more about their research on the evening before the start of the conference at the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences.
The conference, titled "Prion 2005: Between fundamentals and society's needs", is being organised jointly by the National TSE Research Platform and the European Network of Excellence NeuroPrion.
Members of the Organisational Committee are among others Prof. Detlev Riesner, Director of the Institute of Physical Biology at the University of Düsseldorf and Dr. Jean-Philippe Deslys, Coordinator of the European Network of Excellence NeuroPrion and Head of the Prion Research Group at the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique, near Paris.
