Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately at the Medical Biotechnology Center, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, Baltimore, USA to study pathological and physiological role of the prion protein. One position will elucidate the biophysical mechanism of prion conversion and requires training in biophysics, biochemistry and/or protein folding. Experience in one of the following area is highly desirable: molecular imaging, atomic force microscopy, fluorescence, FTIR spectroscopy, solid-state NMR. Another position will study the role of the prion protein in neurodevelopment and neurodifferentiation using stem cell model. Prior training in cell biology is required; experience in culturing stem cells and immunofluorescence are highly desirable. The closing date for applications is July 31st, 2008.
